I saw this mentioned in Shane's tuner thread, but thought it should get its
own thread.

Does anyone have any experience with the Strobosoft software? Good?
Bad? How does it compare to using the Peterson tuners? Are there specific
sound card requirements (other than the couple issues they mention on
the web site)? Are there any microphone/pickup suggestions for use with
it?

Those are all the questions I can think of right now.

TIA.

Cheers,
-Dave

I have a VSII and love it. The reviews I have read on stobsoft are very good. I think I would want a high end soundboard if I used it because the freq out put accuacy, I think would be dependent on the specs of the soundboard. i think I may buy it and give it a try as I do have a very good soundboard. The price is very reasonable.

Michael,

Yeah, the price seems too good not to try it out. Do you have a plan for a
specific microphone or pickup?

Cheers,
-Dave

I bought it and have never been able to get it to work. I am running a SoundBlaster Audigy soundboard. Everytime I've tried to use it, I get a message that tells me there is too much background noise. I bought both the suction cup mic and the clip on mic that Peterson sells. It may be a problem with my setup and I just haven't had time to get with Peterson and work out the problem. I plan to install it on my wife's laptop and see if I can get it to work there. Sorry I can't give you a better review.

When I was shopping for a new tuner the Strobosoft wasn't available for
mac, so I went with a VSAM. They have a mac version now, but I still
haven't tried it. The spectrum analyzer and oscilliscope sound very
appealing.
